Understand the interface decision

The utility may focus on the connection interface rather than every turbine protection function. The project should therefore distinguish the witness scope from factory tests and machine-level validation. Missing prerequisites can prevent meaningful testing even when the equipment appears ready to generate.

The connection operator determines the applicable grid-interface requirements. Review the approved equipment configuration against those requirements and site conditions. An example from another installation can explain a concept, but cannot authorize a new connection or settings change.

Put these inputs in the review record

Use a project-specific worksheet to capture the following information. For each entry, name the document, revision and person responsible for resolving any uncertainty.

• The connection operator’s required functions and test method. Identify the exact configuration and the supporting document.
• Accepted drawings, settings and equipment configuration. Keep the design assumptions visible in the project record.
• Instrument suitability, isolation boundaries and responsible personnel. Name the responsible reviewer and resolve any missing information.
• Witness records, deviations and the conditions for any retest. State how this entry will be verified during acceptance.

Define the acceptance boundary

Accept results against the agreed criteria and record unperformed or failed items separately. Do not treat attendance alone as approval to export. The operator’s formal connection authorization and any remaining conditions must be tracked through the applicable process.

The final record should identify the tested configuration and supporting raw results. This allows later settings changes to be assessed without incorrectly assuming the original witness covers every future revision.
