Can an oven's recirculation fan and exhaust fan be treated as interchangeable wind loads?

The short answer

No. Recirculation and exhaust can have different physical roles even if their motors have similar ratings. One may distribute heat within the chamber, while the other removes gases, moisture or air through an external path. The oven designer and process owner must define each accepted duty. Equal motor kW cannot establish equal control or shedding permission.

Trace the two air paths

Use the oven's actual airflow drawing and component schedule. Identify internal recirculation, fresh-air entry and discharge, including any additional process or combustion equipment. Despatch describes recirculation as part of temperature distribution through the load. Its general guidance does not establish a particular oven's exhaust requirement or an acceptable process-air exchange rate.

Relate each fan to the accepted process

Ask which fan states are required during loading, heating, holding and other approved modes. Product placement can affect heat distribution; a fan remaining energized does not prove uniform heating throughout a real load. Exhaust requirements can also depend on the actual process materials. This page supplies no hazardous-process purge time, ventilation setting or permission to substitute one air path for another.

Record fan identity with every proposed dispatch request. A statement that the oven fan can be reduced is ambiguous until it names the air path and the owner-approved operating state affected.

Use distinct electrical and service records

Record measured input, control permissions and required supply continuity for each fan. If an energy proposal changes one duty, identify which physical service changes and have the responsible owner evaluate it. Keep this separate from merely extending or shortening oven heater runtime. Provide the air-path drawing and accepted fan-state schedule in the wind enquiry. A MARSTON wind package can be assessed at a defined electrical connection, but it does not establish oven process acceptance, ventilation protection or a controller able to coordinate those duties.
