Does dynamic EV load management automatically maximize wind self-consumption?

The short answer

No. Dynamic load management can be designed primarily to keep a site's imported current within an agreed limit. Maximizing wind self-consumption is a different objective that also needs suitable generation or net-flow information and a dispatch policy. The same hardware may support both functions, one function or neither for the proposed configuration.

State what the controller is minimizing or limiting

A controller that increases charging whenever spare connection capacity exists can import electricity during low wind. That may meet a departure target efficiently, but it is not evidence of surplus-only charging. Conversely, a surplus-only policy may leave permitted capacity unused. Write the owner's priority explicitly instead of using smart charging as an undefined promise.

Check the measurement boundary

Identify whether the meter observes the whole site, a charger feeder or only one phase, and whether other generators sit inside that boundary. Hypothetically, 5 kW of wind alongside 4 kW of other site demand leaves 1 kW before charging and losses at a common simplified boundary. Treating all 5 kW as spare double-allocates energy already serving the site.

Document whether the control value represents total site import or only charging current. A successful charger limit does not demonstrate that the facility's separate wind-generation and noncharging loads were measured correctly.

Review competing restrictions

The implemented charging request must respect the connection limit, equipment limits and the chosen energy objective together. Ask what happens when a meter value becomes stale or two controllers issue requests. Tesla's management categories illustrate different product functions; they do not establish surplus-following capability for every installation. Provide the meter diagram, control ownership and import policy with the wind RFQ. Keep wind energy used by vehicles, other site consumption and exports separate when checking results. The renewable package should not be credited with an EV dispatch function until its actual integration has been agreed.
