Small wind / Buyer questions
Environment and maintenance
Why does the same wind-equipment surface become wet repeatedly when nearby surfaces stay dry?
The short answer
A recurring local wet spot can indicate a nearby source, water retention or a surface that dries differently. It does not automatically identify a leak. Compare when the spot appears, how it spreads and how it dries relative to surrounding material. The decision is whether a local pathway or barrier needs investigation beyond ordinary weather exposure.
Use timing to distinguish hypotheses
A spot that appears only after rain differs from one that reappears during dry weather. A delayed patch may relate to retained water, while a position-dependent trail may come from another region. Shade, material thickness and contamination can also change drying. Describe these relationships without assuming a cause. A single image of wetness cannot establish whether the liquid originated inside or outside the equipment.
Locate the supply and retention boundaries
Compare the spot with seams, ledges, deposits and any known fluid-containing component. A surface film could be water or another liquid, which changes the investigation. Qualified personnel should determine whether sampling or controlled inspection is needed. Do not touch an unknown liquid or search around a pressurized component to identify it, and do not block the suspected path to see whether the patch moves.
If the wet region remains shaded long after adjacent surfaces receive sun, slower drying is a competing explanation. If it repeatedly reappears without new external wetting, a local source deserves closer review. The enquiry should make those observed differences explicit before naming a failed seal.
Ask for a physical explanation
The useful outcome identifies which mechanism is supported and what remains unresolved about the affected surface or interior. Cleaning can remove a retained deposit yet leave the source active; sealing the visible patch can redirect water elsewhere. No MARSTON moisture-control arrangement or permissible leak is established here. Any modification or release decision requires the actual component design, safe assessment and applicable supplier instructions.
