Small wind / Buyer questions
Purchasing and delivery
Which evidence should accompany a wind component returned for warranty assessment?
The short answer
Provide the component's traceable identity, relevant operating and service history, observed fault or condition, and the handling records requested by the warranty assessor. Obtain return authorization before shipment. A complete evidence package supports an assessment, but it does not establish that a particular repair, replacement, freight cost or site expense is covered by the actual agreement.
Identify the item and claim context
Record the originating asset, component reference, revision and serial or batch identifier where relevant. Link the purchase and installation records and state when the condition was observed. Distinguish direct observations from suspected causes. Include relevant maintenance and authorized change history rather than only the latest fault message. If information is missing, identify the gap honestly. Do not reconstruct dates or claim that unrecorded tasks were completed merely because the standard maintenance plan listed them.
Preserve condition and follow instructions
Ask the supplier or appointed assessor which photographs, logs, tests and accessories are required. Obtain guidance before dismantling, cleaning or altering the component where evidence may be affected. Competent personnel must manage safe removal and handling through applicable procedures. Agree the packaging and return route with qualified logistics parties. This page does not provide a diagnostic or shipping procedure for an unidentified failed part, and it does not determine whether an action changes legal warranty rights.
Track the assessment and outcome
Retain the submitted evidence, return authorization, shipping record and assessor's response. Record requests for further information and the final technical and commercial disposition. Link any repaired or replacement item to the asset history and inventory. Keep disputed coverage questions with authorized commercial representatives and qualified advisers as appropriate. A useful record shows what was requested, supplied and decided. It should not present a service return as an accepted warranty claim before the responsible party has completed the actual assessment.
