Which installation work should be inspected before it becomes inaccessible?
The short answer
Identify work that will become concealed, inaccessible or impractical to verify after the next installation step, then place appropriate inspection and evidence gates before access is lost. Select the scope from approved documents and project risks. Later photographs or a completed assembly cannot automatically establish the condition of an interface that was never inspected when visible.
Map loss of inspection access
Review the installation sequence with designers, suppliers and contractors. Ask which connections, supports, protective details or construction interfaces require checks before covering, closing or lifting another assembly into place. These are planning categories rather than a prescribed turbine design. Reference the applicable drawings and acceptance criteria for each selected item. The purpose is to preserve evidence that matters to the actual installation, not to create a hold point for every task regardless of consequence.
Define what the record must show
State the required inspector, measurements or observations, reference revision and release authority. Agree any photographic views before the work is concealed, including asset identity and context. A picture can support evidence but may not replace required measurements, material records or competent examination. Clarify notification and attendance arrangements so the contractor knows when work may continue. If the inspection is missed, record the gap and obtain an approved recovery plan instead of marking it complete retrospectively.
Preserve traceability into handover
Link each accepted concealed-work record to the asset and installation stage. Retain deviations and the disposition of any missed inspection. Where recovery requires reopening or another verification method, have the responsible technical parties decide its adequacy before release. This gives later reviewers a defensible account of the inaccessible work. It also prevents a polished final handover folder from concealing the distinction between verified installation and a declaration that the work probably followed the expected method.
