Small wind / Buyer questions
Purchasing and delivery
What should container loading photographs show for a wind equipment shipment?
The short answer
Request a loading sequence that connects package identities, condition, supports and restraints before they become hidden. Photographs should show what was loaded and how, rather than only the closed container doors. They support a packing record but cannot alone establish that every restraint is correctly designed or that the cargo will arrive undamaged.
Plan the evidence before loading
Agree the shipment and container identifiers, package list, required views and person responsible for the record. Capture the empty transport unit's relevant condition and the loading arrangement at meaningful stages. Include enough context to locate each package and enough detail to identify restraint attachment and support locations. If an important connection becomes inaccessible after the next package is loaded, photograph it beforehand. A planned sequence reduces the need to interpret a few disconnected images after a transport problem occurs.
Connect photographs to the packing plan
Use captions or an index showing date, package identity, container location and the step represented. Ask the responsible packer to explain deviations from the agreed loading or securing plan. Images of straps or blocking do not prove their capacity or suitability; those matters need the relevant competent assessment. Record actual package counts and any unusual handling observations separately. Avoid relying on filenames alone, especially when several containers or similar-looking crates belong to the same wind equipment order.
Retain a usable shipment record
Store original image files with the packing list, securing documentation and container seal record. Check that the received images are readable and correspond to the dispatched shipment. Where photographs are missing, identify the evidence gap rather than reconstruct a supposedly complete record from another order. The useful outcome is traceable loading evidence for a particular consignment. It helps assess handling questions while preserving the distinction between observed condition, the packer's technical responsibility and contractual transport obligations.
