Small wind / Buyer questions
Application integration
Why must a heated dispensing system include hose and applicator loads as well as its tank heater?
The short answer
The tank heater is only part of a heated dispensing service. Hoses, manifolds and applicators can have separate temperature-controlled zones and readiness requirements. A tank of usable material does not prove that it can pass through a cold delivery path or be applied as required. The complete system boundary should follow the material to the accepted point of use.
List the actual heated zones
Obtain the installed zone schedule, electrical boundaries and controls for the melter and downstream components. Nordson's documentation distinguishes modules such as hoses and applicators; it does not establish what is fitted at this plant. Record which zones must be ready together and which standby or setback functions are supported for the selected equipment and material.
Reconcile power without duplicating it
Determine whether the main system meter already includes external zones. Hypothetically, a tank circuit using 4 kWh and separately metered delivery zones using 1.5 kWh total 5.5 kWh. If the system meter already reads that combined total, adding the zones again overstates demand. The numbers are invented and do not imply a typical share for hose heating.
A ready tank with one unavailable delivery zone is not automatically partial useful production. Ask which combinations the machine can actually use before allocating wind independently to individual heater circuits.
Model usable readiness rather than tank temperature
Ask the process owner to identify when a complete heated path is required, what follows an interruption and when material delivery is accepted again. A wind request should not shed a zone independently of those permissions. Include start and approved setback states in the chronology, as well as material pumping demand where outside the heater boundary. Send the zone and meter maps with the RFQ. A wind package can supply a defined electrical interface without establishing dispensing quality, a safe temperature or a controller capable of coordinating every heated component.
