Can prioritizing hot-water heating create a later space-heating demand peak?

The short answer

It can, depending on the building, storage and heating controls. If domestic-water heating temporarily diverts capacity from space heating, the space service may accumulate a thermal shortfall. Restoring it can change the later electrical profile. Shifting the water-heating event toward wind does not prove that the rest of the day's heating demand stays unchanged.

Identify which service is deferred

Obtain the actual operating-mode description and ask whether space heating stops, reduces or continues through a separate source while water is heated. Record the building's permitted temperature behavior through the owner and heating designer. Do not assume a priority function exists in every heat pump or copy another product's timer and temperature settings.

Follow the recovery window

Compare heat delivered to rooms before, during and after the water-priority period. Include recovery input, any backup stage and the delivery deadline for each service. A larger later input is not inevitable: thermal inertia and control limits can alter the result. The assessment needs measured or supported behavior rather than automatically adding an arbitrary rebound percentage. Keep the next required occupancy window visible.

Record each service's unmet thermal requirement separately. A water-heating target reached on time does not demonstrate that the rooms received their required heat during the same period or recovered afterward.

Compare equal combined service

Evaluate the original schedule and proposed wind-aligned schedule against the same hot-water and room-heating requirements. Keep hygiene and water-service conditions with the qualified owner; this is not a temperature-setting guide. Report the chronological electrical change, including any later imports or missed service. Send the priority-mode evidence, storage configuration and recovery cases with the RFQ. Daikin's manual illustrates a mode-priority arrangement only. A wind quotation cannot establish the accepted room-temperature outcome or imply that a MARSTON controller can change the heat pump's service priorities.
