Small wind / Buyer questions
Application integration
Can battery-tool charger output ratings be added directly to estimate workshop AC demand?
The short answer
No. The charger's battery-side output rating and the workshop's AC input are different boundaries. Conversion losses, cooling and control functions affect input, and a full or absent pack does not have the same demand as an actively charging pack. Use the exact charger/pack combination and operating states instead of summing output labels as continuous mains demand.
Identify the real charging combination
Record charger models, supported pack types and input requirements from their applicable documents. Makita's example separately states mains input and pack-voltage information and describes controlled charging with cooling. Its numbers cannot be transferred to another charger. Do not infer input watts simply by multiplying nominal battery voltage by a maximum current from an unrelated charging state.
Measure input through a complete pack cycle
Include the pack's arrival condition, any temperature-related wait, active charging and the supported full-pack state. Record the mains measurement boundary and whether several slots share a total input limit. A charge-time claim for one pack does not establish a rectangular full-power AC profile. Nor is a nominal ampere-hour capacity by itself the energy drawn from the wall.
Include a charger slot's accepted standby state after the pack finishes. A pack remaining physically connected does not prove that the charger continues at its active input for the rest of the shift.
Give the wind integrator a state mix
For energy, combine actual numbers of charging, full, waiting and absent packs over the shift. For supply capability, retain simultaneous permitted input and startup behavior separately. Identify which charging can move without leaving tools unavailable for required work. The enquiry should contain charger input evidence and accepted pack readiness, not a total of battery-side watt labels. MARSTON does not supply its own storage product, and no compatibility with tool batteries or direct pack charging is established by a workshop load assessment.
