Wind Turbine Test Reports & Certification Scope Review
A test report needs to identify what was assessed and what conclusion its evidence supports. Review the document, equipment version and scope before using a graph, standard reference or certificate label in a procurement decision.
Match the claim to the document that supports it.
Identify the assessed configuration and review the report’s scope, result and limitations before drawing a project conclusion.
01 / Document identity
Begin with the complete report and its issuer.
Record the title, issuer, document number, issue date and revision.
Record the title, issuer, document number, issue date and revision. Establish whether the material is a report, a specification, a field record or an extract from a larger document. A copied graph without its originating report cannot establish the full assessment scope.
Where a certificate is offered, retain its identifier and issuer separately from the test report. Use the issuer’s verification channel or applicable official register to check it where available. An official directory listing does not remove the need to read the scope and conditions.
02 / Configuration
Compare the assessed equipment with the proposed supply.
Check the turbine model and configuration represented by the document.
Check the turbine model and configuration represented by the document. Relevant identities can include the rotor arrangement, generator, controller and converter where they form part of the assessment. Retain serial or version information given by the report rather than assume every unit sharing a power label is covered.
For MARSTON, earlier Daqing hydraulic-yaw material must remain identified as historical. It does not directly validate the current FD14-50KW electric-motor yaw arrangement. A requested change or variant needs an applicable review of the existing evidence.
03 / Assessment scope
Identify the actual question answered by the document.
A power-performance report, acoustic measurement and electrical-characteristic assessment address different subjects.
A power-performance report, acoustic measurement and electrical-characteristic assessment address different subjects. Record which quantities and operating conditions were included and which were outside the scope. Do not use one favourable result as evidence for an unassessed function.
If the report cites a standard or method, retain the stated edition, test scope and any reported limitations. A standard number in a brochure is not proof that the described tests occurred. The power-curve guide covers interpretation of that specific kind of result.
04 / Results & judgement
Separate measurements from compliance conclusions.
Identify the reported observations, calculated results and the author’s stated conclusion.
Identify the reported observations, calculated results and the author’s stated conclusion. If the document assesses compliance, determine which requirements and decision basis it uses. Do not add a pass statement to a result that the issuer presents only as a measurement.
Keep uncertainty, exclusions and test conditions with the result. An installation photograph or successful operation record may provide context, but it does not replace the defined evidence for a specific performance or conformity claim.
05 / Certification
Distinguish a report from a wider certification scope.
Testing can be one part of a certification scheme rather than the complete process.
Testing can be one part of a certification scheme rather than the complete process. DNV’s published wind certification specification describes design, manufacturing and testing modules. Its scope is an external example; it establishes no MARSTON certification.
A component certificate, turbine type certificate and site or project approval concern different objects or decisions. Review the actual certificate’s named product, variants, conditions and scope. Do not transfer a component’s certification to the whole turbine or treat a product certificate as automatic local installation approval.
06 / Evidence register
Keep procurement claims linked to applicable documents.
Prepare one record for each claimed capability, showing its evidence reference, assessed configuration and limitations.
Prepare one record for each claimed capability, showing its evidence reference, assessed configuration and limitations. Mark a requested report unavailable when it has not been supplied. This gives the project team a clearer decision than a collection of unlabelled logos and graphs.
For a MARSTON technical enquiry, state which evidence the project needs and for which model and connection. Request applicable documents and clarify outstanding questions with the issuer or responsible reviewer. This page claims no certification, accredited test programme or independently verified performance for any MARSTON product.

Prepare the information for this review.
Use the checklist to organise the project information. Mark unavailable items and retain document references.
| Review item | Information to provide | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Document identity | Issuer, number, date, revision and document type | Establish the source. |
| Assessed configuration | Model, component identities and relevant versions | Match evidence to the offered equipment. |
| Scope & method | Quantities, conditions, method and edition | Identify the assessed question. |
| Conclusion | Results, exclusions and any explicit conformity judgement | Avoid adding unsupported claims. |
| Claim register | Evidence reference, applicability and missing records | Support a traceable procurement review. |
Engineering questions.
Is a test report the same as a product certificate?
No. Read the report’s assessment and the certificate’s separate scope and issuer; testing may be only part of a certification process.
Does a cited IEC standard prove a completed test?
No. Obtain the applicable report or other evidence and review what was actually assessed.
Can a component certificate cover the whole turbine?
Do not assume that. The named certified object, scope and conditions must be checked.
Do historical Daqing records prove the current electric-yaw version?
They concern the earlier hydraulic-yaw configuration. Their applicability to a current configuration must not be assumed.
Does a product certificate grant permission at every site?
Product evidence and local installation or grid approval are different review decisions.
What should be done when a required report is missing?
Mark the evidence unavailable, identify the required scope and ask the responsible supplier or issuer for applicable documentation.
Technical enquiry
Bring your project information to the discussion.
A test report needs to identify what was assessed and what conclusion its evidence supports. Share the available information and the equipment scope you want reviewed in a technical quotation.
