Small wind / Buyer questions
Application integration
Can spare forklift battery packs change how charging demand is matched to wind?
The short answer
They can create a different scheduling opportunity from charging a vehicle that must remain connected. A charged spare can support a working forklift while another compatible pack charges elsewhere. The constraint becomes the supply of accepted ready packs at each required issue time, together with charger and handling availability. Spare count alone does not establish that flexibility.
Build the ready-pack inventory
Record pack identity, forklift compatibility, state when returned, charger compatibility and next required issue. Include any maker-required cooling or other readiness condition for the actual battery technology. EnerSys's selection-system example tracks charging and cooling status; those conditions are not universal across every chemistry. A pack occupying a charger is not necessarily ready to re-enter service.
Compare inventory through the shift sequence
Hypothetically, three forklifts needing three ready packs at a shift boundary cannot be supported by a ledger showing only two accepted ready packs, even if annual wind energy covers all charging. The example is an inventory condition, not a battery-capacity claim. Follow subsequent returns and charging completion so a schedule does not solve today's issue by creating tomorrow's shortage.
Track available ready packs as a time series, not only a daily total of completed charges. The timing of each accepted issue can constrain flexibility even when the day's total inventory appears sufficient.
Evaluate practical charging flexibility
Ask the operator which charging windows can move, how packs are identified and whether approved handling resources exist at those times. Include actual charger input profiles rather than assuming constant battery-nameplate power. Keep alternative charging and an appropriate ready reserve in the comparison as required by the owner. Send the accepted demand schedule and inventory requirement with the wind enquiry. MARSTON has no own storage product, and this page establishes no forklift-battery compatibility, handling procedure or guarantee that wind alone maintains multi-shift operations.
