Do two power cords make an IT load independent of a single wind-supported supply path?

The short answer

Two cords provide two connection points, but their upstream paths can still share a UPS, distribution board, transfer device or other common dependency. Independence is an architectural property to demonstrate. It also differs from capacity: two independent paths can be undersized, and two adequately sized cords can still lose power from one upstream failure.

Trace both paths to their agreed boundary

Mark PSU identity, rack PDU, branch circuit, UPS or other source and any shared transfer or control dependency. Establish how far upstream the owner requires separation. Do not infer independence from different socket positions, cable colors or power strips. Include the actual accepted failure scenarios rather than label every common item unacceptable without considering the owner's service requirement.

Keep redundancy modes and energy accounting separate

Confirm the server's supported PSU configuration. HPE describes configurations that can redistribute or concentrate normal input; a second cord is not automatically a second full copy of consumed energy. Use whole-server input or consistently reconciled branch measurements for kWh. Then examine loss of each required path separately using the appropriate remaining-load case.

A shared control or transfer dependency can matter even if both power cables use different breakers. Include those dependencies only where they form part of the owner's explicitly reviewed service boundary.

Place wind on the real architecture

Identify where the wind package would connect and whether that point is shared by both paths. A common renewable contribution does not by itself remove or create the owner's required source independence. Ask the integrator to show the accepted normal and failure diagrams, including any retained alternative source. Keep energy savings distinct from a claim of improved IT resilience. No generic turbine or battery symbol can establish dual-path service, and MARSTON's wind-equipment scope does not imply an independently redundant IT supply or a supported automatic changeover function.
