Wind Turbine OEM & Custom-Project Requirements
An OEM or custom-project enquiry needs a precise description of the requested change and its consequences. Start from an identified equipment configuration, then agree which requirements can be reviewed and how an accepted change would be verified.
Turn a custom request into a reviewable specification.
This guide organises an engineering enquiry. It does not establish that every requested modification, private-label arrangement or production programme is available from MARSTON.
01 / Baseline
Name the equipment version the request starts from.
State the turbine model, intended market or application and the supplied equipment proposed for the project.
State the turbine model, intended market or application and the supplied equipment proposed for the project. Identify the drawings, controls and interface documents currently available. Keep unknowns visible so a custom request is not evaluated against an assumed configuration.
The current range is FD5-5KW, FD7.5-10KW, FD10-20KW, FD12-30KW and FD14-50KW. A confirmed feature on one model does not establish every internal design detail on the others. The baseline should use documents applicable to the selected model.
02 / Change request
Describe the required outcome and affected interface.
A request entry should contain request_id, baseline_reference, proposed_change, reason, required_outcome and affected_interfaces.
A request entry should contain request_id, baseline_reference, proposed_change, reason, required_outcome and affected_interfaces. Identify whether the enquiry concerns branding, packaging, electrical connections, controls or a mechanical interface. Attach the customer requirement or drawing rather than relying on a broad custom label.
Keep appearance-only requests separate from changes that could affect loads, clearances, electrical ratings or operation. Do not assume a rotor, generator, yaw mechanism or brake can be altered without additional design assessment. Mark requested features as pending until the supplier response is documented.
03 / Ownership
Allocate design, supply and integration responsibilities.
Define which party provides each interface document and approves its use.
Define which party provides each interface document and approves its use. Include turbine, tower, controller, converter and any customer-supplied equipment. A separately supplied controller or converter still needs the electrical characteristics and functional responsibilities of the connected system.
Record ownership and permitted use of drawings, software or control settings involved in the request. Establish who approves future changes and supplies service documents. The interface guide helps keep connector identity distinct from functional compatibility.
04 / Verification
Connect the requested outcome to applicable evidence.
For each proposed change, ask what analysis, inspection, test or document review would support acceptance, and who defines the criteria.
For each proposed change, ask what analysis, inspection, test or document review would support acceptance, and who defines the criteria. Record the equipment configuration and evidence required. Verification activities and prototype availability must be agreed; they are not promised by this guide.
Identify the regulatory or certification information the intended project actually needs. Review whether an existing report applies to a changed configuration. Do not infer that modifying a standard product preserves certification or establishes access to a new market.
05 / Revisions
Keep the quotation and equipment documents aligned.
Use a change register recording the request, supplier disposition, agreed revision and affected documents.
Use a change register recording the request, supplier disposition, agreed revision and affected documents. If a requirement changes after quotation, capture the technical, cost and schedule consequences before releasing the revised scope. Avoid ambiguous labels such as latest drawing without an identifier.
At handover, retain the agreed specification and the delivered configuration record. Record unresolved deviations explicitly and name the party responsible for closing them. General configuration-management principles support this approach; no NASA process or certification is claimed for MARSTON.
06 / Commercial scope
Agree the programme before treating it as an offer.
Send the requirement pack with quantities, intended schedule, destination, support expectations and any customer-supplied components.
Send the requirement pack with quantities, intended schedule, destination, support expectations and any customer-supplied components. Ask MARSTON to respond with accepted, conditional, unavailable or clarification-needed status for each requested change. This creates a bounded engineering discussion.
A reviewed proposal should identify development work, documentation, sample or validation scope where applicable, production supply and after-sales responsibilities. Minimum order quantities, tooling, lead times and private-label terms require a specific agreement; this guide provides no standing commitment for them.

Prepare the information for this review.
Use the checklist to organise the project information. Mark unavailable items and retain document references.
| Review item | Information to provide | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Baseline identity | Model, configuration and document revisions | Define the starting equipment. |
| Change register | Requested outcome, reason and affected interfaces | Make the proposed difference reviewable. |
| Responsibility matrix | Design authority, supplied devices and document ownership | Allocate integration duties. |
| Evidence plan | Acceptance criteria, verification scope and unresolved gaps | Establish what supports approval. |
| Programme scope | Quantity, schedule, destination, support and terms to discuss | Prepare a bounded proposal. |
Engineering questions.
Does this page promise custom manufacturing for every request?
It provides an enquiry structure. The feasibility, available scope and terms of each request require engineering and commercial review.
Can a standard turbine be supplied with a customer controller?
Provide the actual controller, generator and interface documents. Compatibility and responsibility require review before agreement.
Are private-label supply and minimum quantities confirmed?
They must be discussed for the specific programme. No general private-label or minimum-order commitment is stated here.
What should a custom request contain?
Identify the baseline, required change, intended outcome, affected interfaces, evidence needs, quantities and destination.
Does an existing test report cover a modified product?
Check the report’s configuration and scope against the proposed changes. Applicability should not be assumed.
How should accepted changes be tracked?
Use identified revisions and a record of the agreed change, affected documents, delivered configuration and unresolved items.
Technical enquiry
Bring your project information to the discussion.
An OEM or custom-project enquiry needs a precise description of the requested change and its consequences. Share the available information and the equipment scope you want reviewed in a technical quotation.
