Wind Generator Rectifiers: AC-to-DC Interface Review
Rectification defines an AC-to-DC boundary; it does not by itself define a complete wind-control package. Review the actual input, rectifier function and downstream interface before using DC voltage information for equipment selection.
Identify what changes at the AC-to-DC boundary.
Keep the generator conditions, rectifier specification and receiving-device limits together in the proposed configuration.
01 / Actual arrangement
Identify the conversion stage in the proposed package.
List the generator and the devices connected between it and the intended output destination.
List the generator and the devices connected between it and the intended output destination. If a rectifier is proposed, identify whether it is a separate supplied device or part of another assembly. Record its location and applicable specification rather than add it to a generic diagram.
The current FD14-50KW has a confirmed brushless permanent-magnet direct-drive generator. That fact does not identify its complete rectifier or converter topology, nor establish a common arrangement for all five models. Use the selected package’s actual documents.
02 / Generator input
Keep AC conditions with the machine identity.
Provide the generator-side voltage basis, current and frequency information over the relevant operating conditions.
Provide the generator-side voltage basis, current and frequency information over the relevant operating conditions. Speed-dependent characteristic data should retain the speed reference and load condition. A nominal converter-output voltage is not the rectifier input specification.
Distinguish loaded information from no-load observations using the generator characteristics guide. This page reviews existing specifications and results; it does not instruct the operator to disconnect a generator or perform an open-circuit measurement.
03 / Rectifier function
Separate rectification from controlled conversion.
In a generic diode-rectifier example, rectification changes AC to a unidirectional output but does not independently regulate it to an arbitrary fixed voltage.
In a generic diode-rectifier example, rectification changes AC to a unidirectional output but does not independently regulate it to an arbitrary fixed voltage. The actual DC value depends on the input and connected conditions. This example explains a functional distinction, not the MARSTON circuit.
An active or otherwise controlled conversion stage has a different specification and control role. Ask which type and function are actually supplied. The word rectifier alone does not establish voltage regulation, MPPT, bidirectional energy transfer or a complete protection function.
04 / DC definition
State what the reported DC voltage represents.
A DC record should identify the measurement point, operating condition and reported statistic.
A DC record should identify the measurement point, operating condition and reported statistic. An average value, ripple and short-duration excursion are different information. If energy-storage or filtering components are included in the assembly, identify the relevant specification without assuming them from a smooth display reading.
Keep the rectifier-output record separate from a downstream regulated output or an internal bus belonging to another device. Do not create a generator-to-DC conversion ratio from a photograph, a nameplate or an ideal circuit equation without its applicable assumptions.
05 / Receiving device
Review the actual downstream operating envelope.
Compare the defined DC interface with the receiving device’s allowed input conditions, current duties and relevant restrictions.
Compare the defined DC interface with the receiving device’s allowed input conditions, current duties and relevant restrictions. Ask the suppliers to identify accepted combinations and any operating conditions that require additional control. A connector match or common kW label does not complete this review.
Include the project’s energy-destination restrictions in the functional description. Voltage regulation, generation limitation and braking responsibilities must be assigned to actual equipment. The dump-load guide covers a separate review where diversion is proposed.
06 / Handover
Document the accepted interface and supplied scope.
Keep the generator identity, rectifier specification, electrical interface drawing and receiving-device documentation together.
Keep the generator identity, rectifier specification, electrical interface drawing and receiving-device documentation together. Record the information supplied by each party and the questions still requiring review. Installation and verification must follow the package-specific approved documents.
For a MARSTON technical enquiry, state the turbine model, intended output destination and existing third-party equipment. Controllers and converters can be discussed separately, but this guide makes no universal rectifier compatibility or standalone rectifier-supply promise. Request the actual configuration and its limits.

Engineering questions.
Does a rectifier produce a fixed regulated DC voltage?
Rectification alone does not establish regulation. Confirm the function of the actual supplied conversion stage.
Can converter output voltage be used as rectifier input voltage?
They describe different boundaries. Use the applicable generator-side input data.
Is an internal DC bus a battery connection?
No such interface is assumed. The actual device documentation must identify permitted connections.
Does a rectifier include MPPT and braking?
Those are separate functions that need identification in the supplied package.
Do all five MARSTON turbines use the same rectifier circuit?
No common topology is claimed here. Review the model-specific electrical arrangement.
What information helps review another vendor’s DC device?
Provide its exact model, input limits and application documents, along with the generator characteristics and proposed interface drawing.
